Carly Kozak

This is Lucy, Harper's best friend. They are a month apart. Isn't she sooo cute!?

I made mine and Harper's floral crown all from stuff I picked up at Porter's Craft store.
It was surprisingly super easy :)

Everyone kept asking me where I got Harper's tiny smash cake.
I ordered a plain white one layer cake from Walmart for $5 (gasp).
Then I decorated it myself with flowers. Way more cost effective & fun!

Here's a little secret about me: I love throwing parties. I love planning them, imagining how they will turn out, and creating lots of things to make it all happen. I seriously went all out for Harper's party. I wish I took more pictures of everything. I think I went a little overboard, but its okay. Taylor was the ultimate husband for putting up with my craziness and running and getting the things that I forgot. I love him to pieces. Harper's party was so much fun. All her little baby friends kept her super entertained. She was just exploring in the dirt and walking around like such a big girl. She is sooo big. Its becoming real that she is entering into that toddler stage. She absolutely loved her cake (which was a total steal by the way). She just went for it, taking flowers off and sticking her hands all over it. Her foot even wanted some of the action haha. Thank you to all the people who came and hung out with us. You guys are amazing. I was so surprised by how many people came and spoiled Harper. We love you all so much. Also to our families, we missed you and wished more than anything that you could have been there. It is so hard being away from you. Harper partied a little too hard though, she woke up the next day with a fever. All she wanted to to do was snuggle and watch movies. She is my favorite girl.

On Thursday and Friday this week my class headed down to Salt Lake for a school field trip. My teacher let me take Taylor and Harper which was so nice and fun. Taking an 11 month old on a non stop field trip was pretty exhausting. Not to mention our AC is out in our car. So it was kind of miserable a lot of the time. But we still had a total blast and got to tour tons of incredible non profits. Everywhere we went Harper was the star of the show. She loved touring all the different places. I'm always blown away by Taylor and how awesome he is. This wasn't even his class's field trip and he asked the most questions and was the only one to walk away with multiple business cards. He is a rockstar! While we were down in SLC we fell in love with it. I forgot how much I miss living in the city. The history, landscape, environment, culture, everything is so much better in the city. SLC definitely stole my heart. Please let me live there. On my trip I was grateful for a lot of things: Husbands who rub your feet, cold showers, Chinese restaurants (who deliver to your hotel), naps, old buildings, great teachers, air conditioning, mashed potatoes, and tender mercies. This trip was an amazing experience, but Harper is happy to be home in her own bed. Car naps are not ideal. Since Harper was so good, we bought her a new stuffed animal. She wanted a giant $40 Peppa Pig, but we settled for $15 Piglet from the Disney store. She honestly couldn't tel the difference. Now that we are home, she will not part from it. She kisses and pats it like its her baby. SO cute. I love her.

Can you believe how cute this girl is? 11 months has been such a fun/tough age. Harper is really starting to understand what we are saying to her. She is understanding our tone of voice, new words, and even some sign language. She has the best sense of humor. She has been cracking up at everything lately. That has been the best because she wasn't a super giggly baby. She also loves dancing. The Trolls soundtrack is her absolute favorite. Can't wait till it comes out on Netflix so we can watch it everyday haha. My favorite thing Harper does is give me and Taylor kisses. It is so sweet. I could snuggle and kiss her all day long. But she won't let me. This girl is constantly on the move. Crawling, standing, cruising, chasing Madi, picking up toys, throwing stuffed animals, etc. Every day I am so tired, but so grateful to be her mama. She has taught me so much about sacrifice. I've never been so happy and so tired in my life. I never want our time together to end. She has become my absolute best friend. I wish time could slow down and I could have this little baby stage forever. But I am excited to continue to watch her grow and learn. One year is just around the corner! Can't wait to celebrate this special girl!! I love you Harper Ruth.

This weekend was just what the doctor ordered. Taylor and I have been so stressed with work and school and home life. It was great to just get out of the house and relax with good friends  We decided to head down to the Cable Factory on Monday. Its a little man made lake with lots of cool wake boarding jumps. I didn't attempt any of those... We invited a few couples from our ward and just hung out. It was a blast eating watermelon and having all the babies play together. I hadn't been swimming in years! It was so fun getting to play in the water with Harper and cool down on such a hot day. The water was pretty gross, and Harper really didn't like it at first. But her baby friend Lucy convinced her to stay and play. Aren't they so cute in their watermelon swim suits? I can't handle it. We stayed for a few hours and just soaked up the sun (don't worry lots of sun screen was applied). Afterward, we headed home, washed off, and took a good long sleep. I'm so grateful for this tiny family of mine. They are so much fun to adventure with. Even if Harper drives me crazy trying to eat rocks constantly and Taylor takes the longest way possible to drive anywhere.  I still love them to pieces. I also wanted to say that my heart was really turned toward those who have served our country this weekend. I have pondered a lot about them and their family members they have left behind. I hope that God can grant those families the peace that they need.
