Carly Kozak



Normally I am opposed to any sort of cloud or precipitation during the Summer, but today I was so excited when I looked out the window and saw rain everywhere. I had been dying of the heat and was so excited for a day where I could stay inside and catch up on some of my favorite things. I hurried into my closet, put on my favorite sweater, made some hot chocolate, and listened to Taylor play my favorite songs. I hope the rain stays for a few more days so I can keep wearing sweaters and indulging in comfort food. Then I'll be ready for sunshine, snow cones, and floating the river.

Summa, Summa, Summa-time. I have never been more excited to end a semester of college. I can finally kiss my days of sociology research goodbye, and say hello to floating on the river drinking lemonade. Anyone who knows me well, knows I am a complete and total summer girl. Growing up in Southern California made me a lover of sun kissed cheeks, mermaid hair, sandy toes, barefoot adventures, sunscreen skin, and frozen everything. To celebrate my favorite time of the year I wanted to share my must have items for this Summer season:



   1//2//3//4//5//6//7//8//9//10//11

Although each of these items are my favorite, I really can't go anywhere without my heart sunglasses, NYC pink nail polish, and smart water. Comment bellow with some of your Summer favorites that I can try out this season. Enjoy the sunshine!

Happy Fourth! This year we took a road trip to Utah, reunited with the Kozak family, ate at the best snow cone shack on earth, ventured around BYU, road tripped back to Rexburg, tired Famous Dave's Barbecue, encountered an overly enthusiastic waitress, went to a Chukar's game, and endured some sunburns. All in all, it was perfect. Hope your Fourth was full of family and food like mine was.

This last weekend Taylor's family invited us to go to Santa Barbara with them. Even though I was recovering from the stomach flu and Taylor had to work a night shift the next day, we decided to tag along. There was no way we were going to let a free vacation slip through our fingers. It was just what we needed before the hectic week ahead. The resort was beautiful, the food was amazing, and the town was perfect. There is nothing I love more than sunny skies, trolly rides, and state street adventures. Thanks for the good memories SB. See you soon!

Got a sweet tooth you just can't satisfy?
I know how hard it is (being a sugarholic) to eat 1..or 2.. or 3... or 8 calorie filled treats and feel immediately guilty afterward. Why does chocolate taste so good!? To help curve your craving, try my Skinny Strawberry Sorbet with my favorite Homemade Granola.



Homemade Granola:

2 tbsp Sliced Almonds
1 tbsp Chia Seeds
6-8 Organic Banana Chips
Handful of cornflakes
2 tbsp of Oats





Place ingredients in blender and blend to desired texture. (I like mine powdery).
If you are using a Nutri-bullet, be careful, it blends up pretty quickly. You might want to pulse instead of puree. 



It should come out looking something like this:



Skinny Strawberry Sorbet:

8-10 Frozen Strawberries
1/4 cup Coconut or Regular Water
2 squirts Lemon Juice (optional)
1/2 cup of Ice (add more as desired)
1 tbsp Honey





1. Freeze 8-10 Strawberries
2. Measure out Water and Lemon Juice
3. Pour all contents into blender
4. Add ice as desired for thickness 



Your Skinny Sorbet should come out looking something like this:



Now mix the two together and you'll be in for a sweet treat. 



Feel free to save your extra Granola to enjoy with some greek yogurt later this week. It can be stored in your cabinet or your fridge! For some an extra sweet kick, add some shredded coconut to the batch.  Happy Healthy Eating!

As many of you know I am surrounded by talented people who graciously take my picture. This week my best friend Emma asked me if I would help her with a personal project. She wanted to experiment with her style and dive into uncharted waters. I decided to hop on board and be her rocker chick for the evening. Who cares if everyone was staring at me like I was a freak? Life is about taking risks.

We had so much fun this New Year's Eve at Disneyland!! We decided to use up our wedding gift Hopper tickets before the end of the year. Even though it was totally crowded, we still managed to take a picture in front of a Christmas tree, eat churros, attend Monsters University, watch the parade, and eat some frozen desert. Can't wait to spend more of this next year with my handsomest hubby.

My wedding day was the most amazing day of my life.
Our reception was under a blanket of oak trees strung in white lights.
It was full of burlap, mason jars, flowers, candles, pictures, vintage street lamps, 
lanterns, lace, and precious memories.
My Aunt and cousin (who are wedding fairies) were kind enough to come down 
from Arizona and decorate my entire reception.
Sure it took DAYS of preparation to make my dream wedding a reality,
But it was beyond worth it.

Unfortunately there isn't a ton of pictures of all the decor,
And the pictures do not nearly do it justice.
But here it is!
Keep an eye out for our cake. 
It was the most delicious and beautiful thing to ever touch my taste buds.

About a month ago, my MIL convinced us that it would be fun to go to a Montana wedding. Boy was she right. The wedding was held at a cute old school building in the middle of the country. It made me wish I grew up in a town that had something other than buildings. I was completely mesmerized by all the cows and I found myself playing with them for about 30 minutes. There was burlap, hay, cupcakes, and rain. It was absolutely perfect.

Thank you Montana! && Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Hill!
